Dr. Indira Alok is the Principal and Executive Director of Manovikas School for Inclusion and a leading expert in Transition Planning for neurodiverse learners. With a Ph.D. in Special Education and a background as a professional Kathak dancer, she pioneered the use of Dance Therapy for cognitive development. A Master Trainer for the Skill Council for Persons with Disability, Dr. Indira has represented Indian inclusive practices at UNESCO, Paris, and continues to shape national policy through her work at the Manovikas Institute for Higher Education.
Dr. Indira Alok is a trailblazing educator, social entrepreneur, and therapist who has dedicated her life to redefining the potential of individuals with developmental disabilities. Currently serving as the Principal and Executive Director of Manovikas School for Inclusion and a key faculty member at the Manovikas Institute for Higher Education (MIHE), her work is rooted in both professional excellence and personal empathy.
Dr. Indira’s academic journey is marked by a Ph.D. in Special Education focusing on transition planning—a critical area that prepares students for inclusive, independent adulthood. Her diverse qualifications include an M.Ed. in Special Education (Distinction), a Master’s in Sociology, and specialized certifications in inclusive education from Roehampton University, London.
What sets Dr. Indira apart is her innovative integration of Indian Classical Art into rehabilitation. As a Visharad in Kathak, she has choreographed over 100 performances, using dance as a therapeutic tool to enhance motor skills and emotional expression. Her global impact was solidified when she presented Vedic Dance and Music Therapy at the UNESCO General Assembly in Paris, showcasing India's ancient wisdom in a modern clinical context.
